A solvent trap is a weapon cleaning system that captures (or “traps”) cleaning solvent throughout the bore cleaning process so that it can be transported and disposed of effectively, and safely.

Solvent traps connect to the muzzle of a firearm and include cups, sometimes known as dry storage cups, dividers, and other names. A bullet cannot pass through a solvent trap because it is designed in that way.

A solvent trap is classified as a “firearm cleaning attachment” by the BATF, but it must be evident that it is built for that purpose. Our solvent traps are developed and built with one primary purpose in mind: to clean firearms.

We do not encourage, support, or advise using our solvent traps or solvent trap dry storage cups to muffle, mute, or reduce the sound of a firearm. Instead of selling our solvent trap tubes, dry storage cups, and end caps individually, we sell solvent trap cleaning kits that include all of the necessary parts and are only used for cleaning. Armory Den does not promote or endorse the modification or use of our products for any other purpose.

Without a Form 1, solvent traps can be legally purchased. You cannot, however, alter, modify, or adapt them into a device for silencing, or reducing the sound of a firearm without first paying the NFA-mandated $200 tax stamp (if applicable) and receiving an approved Form 1 from the BATFE.

Please be aware of the limits and regulations that apply to you, as well as those that apply to the states in which you live. You can only make changes to the product after you receive the approved Form 1 back. If you make the changes before getting the tax stamp, you’ve committed a felony.

For durability and long-term quality, our solvent trap cups are intended to fulfill American Mil-Spec standards. While solvent trap cups are not the only product we make, they are currently the only ones available for retail purchase.
